HYROX is "The Fitness Competition for EVERY BODY".
I first learned of HYROX about a year ago, February 2020. It was a new concept to me. Different from obstacle course races, more exercises involved than triathlons, and it also doesn't require olympic weightlifting events like some other fitness competitions do, it is 8 exercises mixed in with 1km runs.
This was intriguing to me for sure! The last part of their tag line really spoke to me as well: "EVERY BODY". The HYROX team wants people to know that truly anyone can compete. You don't have to be shredded and able to lift hundreds of pounds over head or be a marathon runner. If you workout regularly and incorporate the exercises into your routine, you will be able to compete and finish this race!
I am not going to lie, it will be hard, but it will be amazing and fun!!
Here is the competition:
Start: 1km run, then 1 km run in between each of the 8 exercises
- 1000m SkiErg
- 50m Sled Push
- 50m Sled Pull
- 80m Burpee Broad Jump
- 1000m Rowing
- 200m Farmers Carry
- 7 100m Sandbag Lunges
- 75 or 100 Wall Balls
By the finish of this race you will have run 8 km total and completed each of the 8 exercises. What an exciting (and very different) competition! No matter where in the world you compete, the race is always the same so you are truly competing directly with everyone!
